Creating a magazine

To create a new magazine choose 'JoomlaFlashMagazine->Magazines' menu item. Then press the 'New' button on the upper panel and do the following:
  • Enter title, author and description for the new magazine
  • Select category
  • Select language file, choose template and resolution for the new magazine
  • Enable/disable print button
  • Select view mode - 1 or 2 pages
  • Enable/disable PDF button
  • Select PDF file for Magazine
  • Enable/disable Magazines sound
  • Select background sound for Magazine
  • Select flipping sound for Magazine (only for 2-pages view mode)
  • Enable/disable front page
  • Select author image (shown when the front page is available)
  • Enter author e-mail (shown when the front page is available)
  • Enter author biography (shown when the front page is available)
  • Select Magazine logotype (it will appear near the magazine title)

Creating pages

To create a new page choose 'JoomlaFlashMagazine->Pages' menu item. Then press the 'New' button in the upper panel and do the following:
  • Enter page title
  • Select Magazine to which the page is assigned
  • Select sound for this page (only for 1-page view mode)
  • There are three types of pages: image, video and text. You can switch between these types while creating a page
  • If you want to create image page then you should check the 'Image' radio button and select an image file for your page
  • If you want to create video page then you should check the 'Video' radio button and select a video file for your page
  • Then you should input video dimensions (if you don't then the dimensions will be set to 200x150 pixels) and location
  • If you want to create text page then you should check the 'Text' radio button and input text for your page. There is an editor for creating text pages that allows you to decorate text and insert images if needed. When inserting an image into a text page you should enter its URL (http://...) and the correct dimensions
  • Press the 'Save' button on completion

Uploading files

To upload a file click the 'Save' icon, select the file for uploading from your computer and click the 'Upload' button.
  • Please use only Latin letters or numbers in the file names
  • Do not use any international encodings
  • No special symbols are allowed
We recommend creating meaningful filenames – e.g. MyBook_page01.jpg

You can upload files with the following extensions:
  • for image files: jpg, gif and png (also you can upload swf files for pages)
  • for sound files: mp3 and wav
  • for video files: flv - you can upload a pdf file for your Magazine if you want users to be able to view a pdf version of your Magazine

Linking to Magazines in Joomla menu

Linking to the list of Magazines:
  • Go to the Menu Editor (Menu -> target menu where you want the book reference to appear)
  • Click 'New' in the upper panel
  • Select 'Component' and click 'Next', enter the menu item name and select 'Flashmagazine Deluxe' from the component list, then click 'Save'
Linking to a Magazine
  • Go to Magazines Manager (Components -> Flashmagazine Deluxe -> Magazines)
  • Open the Magazine (that is to be bound to the menu item) for editing
  • The 'Magazine URL' field will display the link to the Magazine - copy it to the clipboard
  • Go to the Menu Editor (Menu -> target menu where you want the book reference to appear)
  • Click 'New' in the upper panel - Select 'Link - Url' and click 'Next'
  • Enter the menu item name, paste the copied magazine link into the 'Link' field, select the way you would like the window to appear and click 'Save'
